Cruiser Bikes

Tommy Clowers reminds us that “it isn’t as easy to make corrections on a street bike.” (Compared to a dirt bike.) Entry level cruisers in the 250-800 cc range are the lightest and simplest of all the cruisers.  These can also be considered “standard” motorcycles.  They are the basic fundamental framework for which all other types of motorcycles are created.  No fancy aerodynamic panels or cool-looking riding positions here.  “Standard” cruiser motorcycles are designed to be functional and comfortable while still being able to perform.

The beauty of “intermediate” cruisers is the fact that they are slightly scaled-down versions of their big brothers, which allows them to still be cool looking while not intimidating newer motorcycle riders.  They typically fall in the 1000cc range.  They are also more affordable.

Advanced cruisers are in their own class known as “power cruisers.”  Take a dash of muscle car; mix it in with a healthy dose of sportbike, and wrap in it a sleek cruiser body…and you have a bike that will out-perform any other cruiser.  Their power plants typically span from 1200 to 2200cc’s, making them both fast and dangerous.
