“Enduro riding is probably one of the most popular of all (off-road) riding,” says X-Games gold medalist Ronnie Renner. Enduro riding is a broad term for long distance, off road motorcycle riding, and can be anything from going on a ride in the desert to trail riding in the woods. Like other dirt bikes, enduro's are great for motorcyclists new to the sport. Keith Code, president of California Superbike School reminds us that, “all professional riders started on dirt bikes.” In contrast to closed course motocross tracks, enduro, or “trail riding”, allows you the freedom to go wherever you want for as long as you want. As a result, where motocross bikes are built to be light and competitive, enduro's use that technology and are beefed up to “endure” the prolonged abuse. They will also have headlights, push-button starts, and are sometimes street legal (with blinkers, a tail light, and mirrors.) Some built-in rider safety features include hand-guards and narrower handlebars. They may also come with digital displays that include speedometers, clocks, and trip meters.
