Supermoto Bikes

Starter

At this level an entry-level supermoto bike could also be categorized as a dual sport…except that it is equipped with more street-specific tires.  Regardless, the 250cc level of bike is a good starter for new riders who appreciate the ride and look of a motocross bike but plan on mostly riding on the street.  Supermoto bikes are basically street-legal motocross bikes.  The moderate power of a 250 cc 4-stroke make them easy to control, and will give the new supermoto rider the ability to learn the bike’s limits.

Experienced

A mid-level supermoto bike would be in the 600cc range.  This bike will be geared and equipped to keep up with cars on the freeway, but will also be a competent performer on light trails or fire roads.

Expert

900cc and above big-bore supermoto bikes are built to rival the performance of their sport bike cousins, with the big difference being their burly off-road styling and superior maneuverability.  And keep in mind…while they have the ability to perform off-road, they are primarily built to dominate in the urban setting.
